CO-CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES

There are various CLUBS for Activities and Social Service. Students are encouraged to take part in all cultural activities such as Dramatics, Singing, Elocution, Debates, Drama, Athletic Meet, Games, Quiz, Essay Competition, Painting, Poster Competition, Flower Arrangement Competition, Spelling Contest, Sandwich Making Contest and other school functions that are periodically held. Thefour houses viz. Blue – St. Luke, Green – St. John, Red – St. Mathew and Yellow- St. Mark creates an active and competitive spirit among the students.
St. Mark :According to the Coptic tradition, Saint Mark was born in Cyrene, a city in the Pentapolis of North Africa (now Libya). Mark is the traditionally purported author of the Gospel of Mark. One of the Seventy Disciples, Mark founded the Church of Alexandria, one of the original three mainepiscopal sees of Christianity.When Mark returned to Alexandria, the pagans of the city resented his efforts to turn the Alexandrians away from the worship of their traditional gods. In AD 68 they placed a rope around his neck and dragged him through the streets until he was dead. His feast day is celebrated on April 25, and his symbol is the winged lion.
St. Mathew :Matthew the Apostle also known as Levi, was, according to the Bible, one of the twelve apostles of Jesus and, according to Christian tradition, one of the four Evangelists.Matthew was a 1st-century Galilean (presumably born in Galilee, which was not part of Judea or the Roman Iudaea province), the son of Alpheus. As a tax collector in Capernaum he was literate in Aramaic and Greek. Matthew authored the first Gospel of the Bible’s New Testament, now known as the Gospel of Matthew. He is the patron saint of tax collectors and accountants. The Feast of St. Matthew is annually celebrated on September 21 and his symbol is that of a winged man or angel.
St. Luke : St. Luke was a man from Antioch, Syria, a physician by profession. He was a disciple of the apostles, and later he accompanied Paul until his martyrdom. Having neither wife nor child, he served the Lord without distraction. Moved by the Holy Spirit, Luke composed the Gospel in the districts around Achaia. His feast day is celebrated on October 18th and his symbol is the ox or calf which actually symbolizes a sacrifice. St. Luke is known as the patron saint of physicians and surgeons. There are different accounts of St. Luke’s exact death. It is said that at the age of 84, St. Luke was martyred by idolaters who tortured and hanged him on an olive tree in the town of Thebes.
St. John :St. John was anApostle and an Evangelist (Feast day – December 27th). St. John, the son of Zebedee, and the brother of St. James the Great, was called to be an Apostle by our Lord in the first year of His public ministry. He became the “beloved disciple” and the only one of the Twelve who did not forsake the Savior in the hour of His Passion. He stood faithfully at the cross when the Savior made him the guardian of His Mother. His later life was passed chiefly in Jerusalem and at Ephesus. He founded many churches in Asia Minor. He wrote the fourth Gospel in the Bible, the three Epistles or letters, and the Book of Revelation is also attributed to him. Brought to Rome, tradition relates that he was by order of Emperor Dometian cast into a cauldron of boiling oil but came forth unhurt and was banished to the island of Pathmos for a year. He lived to an extreme old age, surviving all his fellow apostles, and died at Ephesus about the year 100. His symbol is the eagle.
